About Dr Hope Ang
Dr Hope Ang is an anaesthesiologist and pain specialist with a particular
interest in the management of musculoskeletal, sports-related and spine-related pain.
At Apex Sports Clinic, Dr Ang works closely with the clinic's orthopaedic surgeons and
physiotherapy team as part of a multidisciplinary approach to patients with persistent or
complex musculoskeletal pain. This is particularly useful when symptoms continue despite
rehabilitation, medication or other first-line treatments, or when the precise source of a
patient's pain remains unclear.
Dr Ang assesses and treats a range of conditions including neck and back pain, shoulder,
hip and knee pain, nerve-related pain and myofascial pain syndromes. He is experienced in
the use of ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures,
allowing potential pain-generating structures to be assessed and treated accurately.
Depending on the underlying condition, treatment may include image-guided injections,
targeted nerve blocks and other minimally invasive interventional pain procedures. In
selected patients, diagnostic injections or nerve blocks can also help determine the
source of persistent pain and guide subsequent treatment.
Dr Ang also performs platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
injections for selected musculoskeletal conditions.
His approach complements Apex Sports Clinic's focus on accurate diagnosis, minimally
invasive treatment and active rehabilitation. Where appropriate, interventional pain
treatment is integrated with physiotherapy, strengthening and progressive return to
activity rather than being used as a standalone treatment.
This multidisciplinary approach can be particularly helpful for patients with persistent
or complex musculoskeletal conditions, including those who have not achieved sufficient
improvement with conventional treatment.

Hospital Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine Centre, and is accredited as a Singapore Armed
Forces consultant in diving and hyperbaric medicine.

Role Within Apex Sports Clinic
Dr Ang's interventional pain expertise broadens the treatment options available to
patients at Apex Sports Clinic, particularly for persistent pain that has not responded
adequately to rehabilitation or conventional treatment.
By combining orthopaedic assessment, interventional pain management and physiotherapy
within the same clinical team, the goal is to identify the underlying pain generator,
provide targeted treatment where appropriate, and help patients return to movement,
exercise and sport.
